Volunteers Programme

Since 2001, and including this year, we have an excellent volunteering project in place. Our volunteers represent the diversity of the Sandwell communities. We involve volunteers on our management committees and steering groups. Our objective is to involve and manage a quality team of volunteers in the development of community based services.

On average we have 3-4 volunteers at any one time.  The volunteers assist in a variety of sections such as support in Advice, Social Policy, Administrative, Support and Outreach positions within projects such as Advice, Information and Advocacy, Events Planning and Management, Young People’s Development, Educational development, Women’s Development and Office Management

Some of the volunteers have managed to undertake and successfully complete qualifications such as NVQ in Business Administration and have been successful in securing jobs as a direct result of support and work experience with us.

The project is working effectively through partnership working with Millennium Volunteers, SCVO, Pertemps, Step to Work and Job Centre Plus. We also have good links with Citizens Advice Bureaux and Sandwell Welfare Rights unit where we continue to send our volunteers to their training courses. Our volunteers receive many benefits from being on the scheme.
Feedback indicates that our people derive great satisfaction from seeing the difference their volunteering can make. Volunteering enables them to develop new skills, enhances self esteem and team building.
