Thank you to all parents that attended the workshop.
Green Garden Nursery are always encouraging our children to read both for pleasure and for learning. Once they are confident readers it gives them great independence, they are able to follow their own interests. You have an important part to play at home in helping your child make the most progress. See the attached information for help with reading at home. If you have any questions, please come and talk to us – we love talking about reading!
children will be taking books home every week.
Reading with your child at home is a crucially important way to support their learning. Reading books together, reading to your child, hearing them read, discussing reading technique, stories, poems and non-fiction texts are all key ways to improve literacy skills and can offer them a lifetime of enjoyment and learning. At Green Garden Community Nursery, we aim to promote a love of reading and feel that children discovering books and how to use and enjoy them is crucial to their development.
Sharing a Book everyday helps children to:
- Learn New Words
- Listen to and play with Rhyme
- Learn about the world beyond their own family and home
- Talk about how they feel and what they think
- Begin to Recognise words and letter
Talking with your child and sharing books gives them the best start in life.
As a parent you have a special role to play. the good news is you don’t need to be an expert to help your child be ready to learn.
